Yoshi is a 4 1/2 year-old, all white, neutered, 150+ lb male Akita. He has been our family dog since he was a puppy purchased from a pet store. (although, I do have his breed-line information). We worked with socializing him at puppy parks from day one.

However, as he hit mature age he began not to be able to be near other dogs. He wants to play, but doesn’t know how to play nice.

He has grown with two cats which he loves, however, I doubt that would happen with other cats.
Sadly my 3 teenage/adult boys have left home, and I found myself with a pregnancy surprise and now a six month old baby. I find myself choosing between separating dog and baby, and not being able to put a lot of time towards poor Yoshi. Because of all of this, I do believe he has a slight separation/anxiety. Unfortunately, Yoshi did start biting hands of strangers touching him/offguard. He most recently got out of my front door and badly hurt the small dog across the street- which is a given as he should not be near small dogs. 🙁

Yoshi is a dedicated, sweet, loving Akita for the right person -ideally a male (he loves certain men), but would love a couple as well. He wants to be number one and always nearby or into whatever you’re doing. He likes to play a bit but really loves walks and hanging out with you! He never has torn up anything in the house, and is a perfectly housebroken buddy. He’s so meticulous he does his duty along the fenceline, and has been caught “covering it” if only rocks are available.

We do not want to have to part with him, but because of our situation it is not fair, or good for him to continue to be separated as he’s been lately. He is used to a family, although I do not think little kids are suggested at this time. It’s only fair that he has a good owner that can make him #1 again so he will be back to his usual self – he is a beautiful baby, and this will be so hard. Special people please apply 🙂
